The morning of Halloween brought the NCHSAA 4A Mideast regional to Cary’s WakeMed Park. Green Hope was the host school for the event for the 7th straight year. The big races of the day would pit some of the strongest teams in the state against each other. With 25 4A schools in the region, only the top four teams advance to the state championship and seven individuals not on one of those four teams. It was a festive atmosphere at WakeMed as the site was the location of the 1A, 2A, and 4A Mideast Regionals.

The 4A Boy’s Race went off at 10:00 AM and the boys were ready to make a statement after a disappointing showing at the conference meet. The boys would put together one of the better days of racing in the school’s history, easily claiming the runner-up spot behind nationally-ranked Broughton. The top five boys' average time was 16:07 and all 7 finishers placed in the top 27 in the race. The Falcons were led by sophomore Peyton Barish (15:57), junior Nick Veilleux (16:02), senior Henry Pehr (16:03), sophomore Ian Delgado (16:14), sophomore Finn McBride (16:20), sophomore Daniel Vo (16:20), and senior Brian Huitt (16:29).

The girl’s race was much anticipated for the first time in years as the Falcons had controlled the region for most of the last decade, winning the past 7 regional titles and 9 of the previous 12. This year's race was to be a battle, though, as the state's top 2 teams would face off. In the end, the girls were edged by local power Leesville Road, 47 to 49. The Pride threw the gauntlet down for next week’s huge state meet showdown. Green Hope was once again led by Elly Henes (18:11), Morgan Adams (18:30), Alessandra Rodriguez (18:45), Shannon Kelly (19:08), Samantha Kolor (19:11), Sarah Taylor (19:25), and Katie Tomasi (19:27). All seven girls finished in the top 20.

Earning first team All-Region honors were Peyton Barish, Elly Henes, Morgan Adams, and Alessandra Rodriguez. Second team All-Region honors went to Shannon Kelly, Samantha Kolor, Sarah Taylor, Katie Tomasi, Nick Veilleux, Henry Pehr, and Ian Delgado.
