Green Hope Cross Country

Lots of PRs were set again at the 4 Runners Only Invitational in Kernersville on October 8^th. The invitational was held at Beeson Park, the site of the 2011 state championship races in November.

The 9^th and 10^th grade races are dubbed the unofficial JV state championships. The GH girls placed 2nd to Providence, while the boys finished 10^th. Each team had several top 9^th and 10^th graders not entered in the meet as well. The girls 9-10 team was led by Kelly Hagan (20:39), Kristen Lospinoso (20:41), and Natsumi Koyama (20:55). The boys team was led by Ted MacCabe (18:18), John McGarrahan (18:27), Brad Pehr (18:28), Parker Manning (18:41), and Max Blackington (18:56).

The Falcons held the top 6 girls out of the championship girls race and entered the next 7 girls against all the other teams top 7. Again, the lady Falcons showed their depth, as they finished a close 2nd to a very strong Ardrey Kell team. 5 girls ran under 20:00 in a very good performance. The girls were: Taylor Buscemi (19:01), Savannah Lips (19:03), Allie Worsdale (19:06), Shewit Weldense (19:12), and Charlotte Brown (19:52).

The Boys Open Race was marked by 4 of the 5 boys entered running PRs. The top 5 GH girls got in a good workout in the Open Race, where all finished in the 18:00s, and several more girls set PRs. Overall 17 girls ran under 21:00 on the day.

The next big race for the Falcons will be the Tri-9 Conference Championship at Wake Med starting at 4:00 on Wednesday, October 19^th. Race schedule:
