The Falcons had 86 runners compete in the Great American Cross Country Festival on September 29th, making it the largest number of GHXC runners to ever compete in one invitational. Overall the day of racing included the biggest and most talented field in the race’s history as teams converged on Wake Med Park from all over the eastern half of the country. Many of the top 20 teams in the nation and most of the southeast region’s top teams were there (9 of 10 on the boy’s side and 6 of 10 on the girl’s side).

There were many Falcons runners who set new personal records in the rainy, muddy conditions. GHXC had a very strong showing overall and once again represented North Carolina very well. With 13 teams of 5-7 runners, the Falcons had the following results:

  • Girls Race of Champions: 8th out of 27 teams
  • Boys Seeded Race: 13th out of 24 teams
  • Girls Red Race: 3rd out of 25 teams
  • Girls JV I: 21st out of 40 teams
  • Boys JV I: 8th out of 35 teams
  • Girls JV II: 4th, 9th, 16th, and 18th out of 24 teams
  • Boys JV II: 7th out of 24 teams
  • Boys JV III: 5th, 9th, and 11th out of 21 teams

Good luck to the Falcons as they prepare for their next invitational at Hagan Stone Park on October 6 (SAT Day).
