The Falcons ran well in the Mideast Regional Championship on a very cold and wet morning at Wake Med Soccer Park on Saturday, Sep 29. The girls team cruised to their fourth straight regional title with a low team score of 29 points (winning by 40 points over 2nd place Broughton) and 5 runners earned all-region status. All region runners were Erica Amatori (3rd), Mo McDonnell (4th), Lauren Colberg (5th), Jessie Rossabi (8th), and Theresa Enright (9th). Savannah Lips (15th) and Shewit Weldense (16th) earned second team all-region. The Falcons now move on to defend their back-to-back state titles next weekend at Beeson Park in Kernersville at 4:30pm Saturday.

The boys ran a good race, but their season ended with a 6th place finish in the region (top 4 teams move to the state meet). The team was led by second team all-region runners Daniel Glover (17th) and Tom Nobles (19th). With 5 sophomores and 1 junior running in the 2011 regional meet, the Falcons will look to get back on top in 2012.

Thanks to the whole GHXC community who helped with the running of the meet. It was the third year the Falcons hosted the meet and will again in 2012. It was another well-run event and would not be possible without all the parents and athletes who made it happen! Thank you.
