The Falcons sent the girl's team to Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro Saturday morning for a rainy day of racing. The course was slow due to three solid days of rain, but the runners still put up some good times even on the wet, muddy course.

The first race of the day was the JV race and the girls placed 5 runners in the top 20 to finish second to Chapel Hill. The team was led by sophomores Lindsey Eastwood (22:22) and Jordyn Parks (22:24), junior Ellie Kremer (22:33), freshmen Leah Spendley (22:46), and senior Natalie Richards (23:08).

The Falcons ran their 2nd 7 runners in the Developmental race. This race includes some team’s top 7 runners and the stronger teams’ 2nd 7 runners. The girls placed all 7 runners in the top 20, but the team was edged out by Chapel Hill. Scorers were Martina Savage (20:12), Lauren McLaughlin (20:14), Brianne Vasarhelyi (20:48), Morgan Peele (20:52), and Emma Benson (21:12).

Six girls raced in the Championship race and Elly Henes added to her list of accomplishments by winning the individual title in a time of 18:13. Morgan Adams (18:56), Sarah Taylor (19:30), and Shannon Kelly (19:53) joined Elly in going under 20:00, but Chapel Hill once again edged the girls for the team title. Overall, though, it was a very successful day of racing in tough conditions as the girls brought home three 2nd-place trophies. The team is starting to get into top racing shape for the big races to come in the final month of the season.
